"We were at Millie's recital last night, and we loved her work! My favorite of the evening was "The Essence of Finality." I also loved her rendition of "Maiden Voyage."
I would love to be on her mailing list for future performances. I really think that her composing and peformance is phenomenal. I also loved her drummer. I hope that she's gonna be performing with him and her bassist in the future. Everyone else was super great as well.
I have to say that her "The Essence of Finality" was magic. It was the best I've heard since I saw a Dave Brubeck, live at the Blue Note, in New York City, back in the late '80s. I wanted to jump up and clap and scream after it. It really blew me away!

"It did not take me long to figure out what moved me so deeply last night. First, the music itself was wonderful---but that was a given, considering the talent on the stage.
When artists—whether musicians, actors, visual artists—share their gifts with us, the audience, there is a line. On one side of that line are artists who have prodigious talent, but hold themselves back. On the other side of that line is the artist who shares too much of their person, leading to an 'ick--I didn't need to know that' reaction.
Millie threaded the needle. She went deep; she shared much of her personal journey. But she never crossed the line into over-sharing. Pitch-perfect!

We often get little or no rehearsing time so adaptability and a ‘fit in' attitude are crucial. Millie is a very competent reader so on tunes not committed to memory she can be relied upon to fill the role of lead trumpet irrespective of what jazz style each number belongs to. In the jazz space Millie plays naturally across more traditional styles into modern and funky sub-genres.

When it comes to taking solos Millie has the gift of playing accurately and melodically and the all important structuring and developing of a solo; building energy and entertainment and tension. I’ve noticed she gets a really appreciative audience response and she's getting a name for stand out playing on the jazz circuit.
