CLARA JAM SESSIONS
Every Wednesday Night - 2027 W North Ave
The Clara jam sessions aim to provide an inclusive space for underrepresented voices in the jazz community. We prioritize giving performance opportunities to these voices in the hopes that we can actively support the growth of new and diverse artists in the Chicago jazz scene. Designed not only for making music, these jams also give attendees an opportunity to connect and build their own community. Take a look below to see the latest featured artists!

Millie Ahearn's Jam x The Frē Jam
The Clara jams began in June 2024 as a monthly event hosted by Millie Ahearn, who established this platform to center the voices of Female, Non-Binary, Genderqueer, and otherwise Trans musicians in the jazz scene. Each session invited a new bandleader hailing from these communities to feature their own house band, showcasing their contributions to the Chicago jazz scene. A year on, this curated concert series and jam session now continues to take place on the first, second, third, and fifth Wednesdays of each month, with new artist spotlights continuing to build our community with each session.

Our newest jam host, Chandler Browne, leads The Frē Jam every fourth Wednesday. Chandler has curated this session to explore a freer group expression - without notation or tune-calling, but with phonetic interpretation of the unique expressions that come together to shape our collective sound.

We are so grateful to have a platform to develop these sessions as we advance our shared goal of fostering a community-centered, inclusive space. As we look toward the future of these sessions, we would like to thank everyone who comes out to participate. Simply by joining us, you help create and sustain this special community!
